Afghan people resettling in the UK
A message from Mhairi Sharp, CEO, National Emergencies Trust:
Like many others, we have been watching the humanitarian crisis unfold in Afghanistan and the Government’s announcement of a new resettlement scheme to protect vulnerable people fleeing the country. Our thoughts are with all those affected.
While the National Emergencies Trust is not planning on launching an appeal at this time, we will be doing all we can to ensure offers of funding reach the frontline organisations who are working tirelessly to support Afghan refugees fleeing persecution and arriving in the UK.
The Refugee Council, our national partner during the Coronavirus pandemic, has launched an emergency appeal to support its work with refugees, including refugees from Afghanistan, settling in the UK: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/refugee-council
For other offers of support, such as donating goods or volunteering, the UK Government site identifies local councils seeking help on specific areas: https://www.gov.uk/help-refugees
