Datchet Corona Volunteers

Datchet Corona Volunteers (DCV) was set up in March 2020 to support vulnerable people in Datchet to cope with the restrictions and impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. After receiving a grant from the NET coronavirus appeal through Berkshire Community Foundation, they recruited over 150 local registered volunteers who offered support with the provision of mental health services, shopping, urgent essentials, postal services and telephone support to the 5000 residents of Datchet.

They have been able to establish a fully manned telephone support service (insert image) where residents can request support alongside establishing supply chains with local food outlets to maintain food supplies through the outbreak. They have also implemented an online ordering service where local residents can order home cooked meals, which has extended to supply over 50 freshly cooked meals weekly to Wexham Park Hospital NHS staff during the pandemic. They are now looking to support long term social distancing measures, self-isolation and provide support to those who may be unemployed due to the pandemic.

Additionally DCV are looking to support other agencies like “Age Concern” and Local Food Banks like Windsor foodshare, throughout the remaining pandemic and beyond
