The team at Go-Getta CIC has been supporting young people and vulnerable adults to live happier, healthier, safer and more responsible lives through access to various projects and services offering wellbeing support, resources and opportunities.
Building self-esteem and providing a safe space where young people feel they belong and cope with disappointments and setbacks is important to achieving their goal. Staff are positive role models for the young people which is key to offering a successful service. They are also well-trained to understand the different barriers and difficult situations that young people face. Go-Getta is the leading provider of Youth Work & Alternative Education in Charnwood and continues to grow across Leicester.
Funding provided from the NET Coronavirus Appeal, with help from Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, contributed to the cost of a Psychotherapist, other staff time and the purchase of a laptop for use by the Psychotherapist. This has helped Go-Getta run virtual mental health support groups for vulnerable adults and young people at an incredibly challenging time. Alongside this, young people have been provided with Wellbeing Kits containing various resources and equipment to help promote their physical and emotional wellbeing.
