The team at Hartlepower has been providing the local community with a whole range of services throughout the pandemic to bring local people together and to help combat social isolation.

Its Broadband Access Programme, now known as ‘Get Connected Community Broadband’, for instance, initiated before the first national lockdown, offers local people, including the digitally excluded, a way to tackle the effects that social distancing restrictions can have on mental health.

Funding from the NET Coronavirus Appeal through County Durham Community Foundation has helped the Hartlepower team to power its community support efforts.

The team has been able to deliver 10,000 gas and electric top-up vouchers to help keep local people connected, and has continued to build on its ‘Hartleneighbour’ initiative, which creates vibrant and vital street-level support networks.
