Head2Head Sensory Theatre
Head2Head Sensory Theatre is a volunteer-led charity passionate about making theatre accessible to all, particularly children with special educational needs and learning difficulties who often face many barriers.
The team runs fun and engaging activities for schools, families and clubs including sensory shows and pantomimes, immersive drama experiences, sensory tents and autism friendly sessions. They believe everyone should experience the magic of theatre which is why their team of actors are trained in Makaton signing and the use of communication aids. The actors perform amongst the audience, offering role play, team work opportunities and impromptu appearances into the storyline.
Sadly these shows were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic but the team quickly thought of new ways to bring these fun sessions to the homes of many families shielding with vulnerable children. Funding from the NET Coronavirus Appeal, through the Heart of Bucks Community Foundation, helped the team to offer interactive sessions online. In the last couple of months, there have been sold out pirate shows, a Cinderella panto, Hatter tea parties, character meet-and-greets, as well as detective whodunnits, multi-layered games and toddler classes offered online.
