Scottish Cot Death Trust
The team at the Scottish Cot Death Trust supports parents that have lost a child soon after birth when the sense of feeling alone can be overwhelming and have a severe impact on mental health. They offer counselling and advice to support parents through what they are experiencing.
The coronavirus pandemic made it difficult for the team to offer face-to-face support safely, but they quickly moved their services online, and their experienced counsellors undertook training so that they could provide the best possible care remotely.
While it has been harder to achieve that same personal connection, or offer members a shoulder to cry on, funding from the National Emergencies Trust’s Coronavirus Appeal, through Foundation Scotland, has enabled the Scottish Cot Death Trust to offer parents greater access to bereavement counsellors during an incredibly challenging time.
