Second Thoughts East Yorkshire
The team at Second Thoughts East Yorkshire has been providing mental health support to over 18’s since 2015, and has continued this critical service throughout the coronavirus pandemic, including during lockdown periods.
The team has transferred some of their services online, which has been really beneficial for those who experience anxiety because they can stay in the safety of their own home. But in other cases, trying to provide support remotely has been more challenging. Some of those who use the charity’s service don’t have access to broadband, for instance, while others really benefit from the face-to-face connection that comes with meeting in person.
Funding from the NET Coronavirus Appeal through the Two Ridings Community Foundation helped the Second Thoughts team to quickly adapt its services and to cover the additional costs of setting up a new office. This meant the team could plan for, and provide, the most effective service possible for local people, without having to worry too much about the costs of doing so.
