TEES Community Hub
TEES (standing for Together, Engage, Encourage, Support) is a community hub based in Redcar, County Durham, founded by Tonia Nixon and her team of volunteers initially to support women living with period poverty. However, they try to offer support to whoever may be in need and have now extended their services to support anyone with financial, emotional, vulnerability or crisis issues. Their community hub houses a charity shop, clothing bank, baby supplies bank for mums unable to afford supplies and is also home to their original period poverty and incontinence project.
The incredible initiatives offered by TEES were helped by a NET Coronavirus Appeal grant through the County Durham Community Foundation. The team of volunteers were quickly able to respond to the needs of the community and provided food and other essentials to vulnerable groups shielding including rough sleepers and elderly people. They have been a lifeline to these groups, supporting their mental wellbeing and ensuring that those most in need get the support.
