The Amber Foundation
The Amber Foundation is an organisation that helps those facing homelessness and gives them a safe and caring place where they can make personal connections and grow their confidence. The team’s method puts emphasis on the individuals that they deal with, supporting them to work through the difficulties they face by offering workshops, training, sport, art, music, writing and gardening; and also working closely with young people to help them deal with negativity.
The challenges that occupants bring into the centre often go beyond simple homelessness. Many of the young people staying are dealing with substance abuse difficulties, often as a way of dealing with negative issues in their lives. The core values of employability, independent living, mental health and wellbeing and personal development have helped The Amber Foundation grow more successful.
Funding from the NET Coronavirus Appeal, through Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation, helped provide cleaning and protective equipment for the centre to improve safe living for homeless and unemployed young people in Trowbridge. They were also able to support young people by purchasing gym equipment and by developing workshops to help them with employment and independent living.
