Funding local partners first
History shows the same thing after every emergency. Local charities and community groups are often first to reach survivors, and they stay long after the emergency is over. They know their communities and what those communities need.
So we fund local first. Wherever we can, we work with UK Community Foundations and its network of local Community Foundations to get money to survivors and grants to local charities. There are 47 Community Foundations across the UK, so we can reach survivors quickly wherever an emergency happens. In London, we work with London Emergencies Trust alongside the Community Foundations.
National Charitable Partners
Some emergencies need specialist help that cannot be delivered locally. Emergency helplines. National advice lines. Expertise for specific needs.
Our National Charitable Partners provide it. These are established organisations with the experience and capacity to deliver specialist services, or to distribute larger grants, during national emergencies. They bring national reach, so no one is left behind wherever they are in the UK.

Associate Partners
Associate Partners are usually smaller or specialist organisations that share our values and bring expertise to survivors. This is a lighter-touch route, built on relationships, shared knowledge, and stronger collaboration across the emergency response sector. It does not require the full National Charitable Partner application.
Become a partner
The two routes share the same expectations: collaboration, good governance, safeguarding, and equity, diversity and inclusion.
Applying means proportionate due diligence and a conversation-based assessment. We use it to understand your organisation's expertise, reach, and the value you would bring to the network. Successful organisations join a growing community working to improve support for survivors before, during and after an emergency.
Our partnerships are built on relationships, not funding. Becoming a partner does not guarantee funding. During an emergency appeal, we may invite partners to apply for funding where their expertise or services meet an identified need. Larger grants are usually awarded through the National Charitable Partners programme. Associate Partners may be considered for smaller, targeted grants as funding allows.
