How volunteers help survivors
When an emergency hits the UK, we bring people together to get support to survivors. Volunteers make that support arrive faster.
There are two ways to volunteer. Appeal volunteers step in when we launch an appeal. Preparedness volunteers work with us between emergencies, so we are ready when the next one comes. You can do both.
The skills we need
Volunteers here come from every kind of background. Legal, finance and data specialists help us make the right decisions at speed. Communications and marketing people get the word further. Fundraisers, organisers and administrators keep the work moving.
Volunteering is flexible. Give a few hours a week, or step in when an emergency happens.
I wanted to do as much as I could to help. At our weekly meetings, the team would share stories of the beneficiaries we were helping. Hearing about the difference our work was making, such as putting food on the table of thousands of families every week, motivated me to put in as much effort as I could so that our efforts to provide emergency relief could reach even more people.
