The National Emergencies Trust has published its Annual Report for the Financial Year 2020/21 today providing an update on how we are working to make sure all those affected by domestic disasters receive the support they need, fast and fairly. Highlights include:

The Coronavirus Appeal

Our first ever appeal launched on 18 March 2020 and raised £88million in the last financial year for those whose lives were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the financial year more than 13,000 grants were awarded to meet urgent needs across the UK, thanks to UK Community Foundations and its network of 47 community foundations, as well as ten incredible national charity partners.

Changing Regulations to change lives

In the last Financial Year we are proud to have worked with the UK Government to change Regulations, which mean future emergency survivors now won’t have to forfeit their right to State support should they accept a financial gift from the Trust.

Putting lived experience at the heart of our work

One of the ways we are doing this is through our Survivors Advisory Forum. Forum members are all survivors of past UK emergencies who share their insights and experiences to ensure that everything we do is delivered effectively and with compassion.

Introducing digital innovations

We are working on some exciting digital innovations that will help us to support future emergency survivors even more quickly during future emergencies.
