A special message from our Royal Patron, HRH Prince William, The Prince of Wales on the National Emergencies Trust’s fifth anniversary.

“Now more than ever I am grateful the National Emergencies Trust is here. It has shown what’s possible when we come together to create change.”

As the National Emergencies Trust marks its fifth anniversary, we are delighted to have received a very special video message from our Royal Patron, HRH Prince William, The Prince of Wales.

His Royal Highness acknowledges the impact of the Coronavirus Appeal, which enabled thousands of charities and groups to support local communities through the pandemic.

He also refers to the Trust’s convening power behind the scenes during localised emergencies that it doesn’t activate for, citing its support following the tragic incident in Southport earlier this year as an example of this.

“It was able to bring together national and local charities, regulators, government and others to ensure the best care.”

During the video, His Royal Highness points to the difference the Trust can make outside of local or national emergencies, outlining how efforts to “listen to and learn from those affected by past emergencies is helping to improve the support that’s available to people in the future.”

He talks about His first-hand experience of this, as part of the Bee The Difference research project, with young people affected by the 2017 Manchester Arena attack.

At the end of the video message, His Royal Highness expresses this gratitude to everyone involved in the National Emergencies Trust, and who has donated to it over the past five years.

We would like to echo this with a huge thank you of our own. None of the work we do would be possible without the amazing people and organisations who have so generously given of their time, money, ideas and enthusiasm to help us improve the lives of those affected by UK disasters.
