This Small Charities Week 2022, we’re celebrating brilliant grassroots charities around the UK who have used funding from our Local Action Fund with Crowdfunder UK to make a meaningful difference in their communities.

Today we are highlighting Broke not Broken (opens in a new tab), a charity in Kinross in Scotland who run various projects and services, ranging from a food and school uniform bank to one-to-one mental health support services, aimed at alleviating the effects of poverty.

Broke not Broken is solely run by dedicated volunteers who work with the community to develop new projects that matter most to them. They’ve used funding from the Local Action Fund to continue to offer healthy food parcels and supermarket vouchers for families as well as provide fuel poverty payments to help with the rise in costs.

Annie McCormack, Chair of Broke not Broken, said: “We are blown away at the support we have received through our Crowdfunder. We are so well supported by our local community and giving them the chance to double their donations makes them feel doubly great about donating. It really is win win and we are so grateful to the National Emergencies Trust for doing this. It has been such an easy way of fundraising at a time when we feel we are just asking again and again for people to support us. We are excited to use these funds to support our community at what is increasingly becoming an uphill struggle for many households, and to develop more projects based on their participation and feedback.”
