This Small Charity Week, we’re celebrating brilliant grassroots charities around the UK who have used funding from our Local Action Fund with Crowdfunder UK to make a meaningful difference in their communities.

Today we are highlighting Headway Cardiff & South East Wales (opens in a new tab), who help people affected by acquired brain injury to rebuild their lives by supporting individuals to regain their independence and providing information and support services to their families, friends and carers. The team, based at Rookwood Hospital in Cardiff, offer a range of support including social groups, life skills sessions, counselling and an information and outreach service.

Funding from the Local Action Fund has enabled the team at Headway to continue to provide valuable creative sessions and art workshops for a further three years as they rebuild their services following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The creative workshops can make a real difference to people’s mental wellbeing as well as encourage fine motor skills and reduce the feeling of isolation.

If you are a small charity making a big difference to your community, find out more about the Local Action Fund and how to apply on Crowdfunder (opens in a new tab).
