Five Years On: The National Emergencies Trust remembersthose affected by the Manchester Arena Attack

Flowers, balloons and messages left in Manchester after the Manchester Arena attack, including a heart-shaped balloon reading 'Manchester'.

Today marks five years since 22 innocent people were tragically killed and many more injured in a terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert on 22 May 2017 at Manchester Arena.

For those affected, and for their loved ones, this chapter of our recent history is still keenly felt, including by the many families forced to relive the tragic events of that day through the Manchester Arena Inquiry.

Our thoughts are with the many thousands of people whose lives have been affected by the attack. For what you have already experienced and for what you continue to endure.

We sincerely hope that the National Emergencies Trust, which was set up in response to learnings from the Manchester attack, as well as other tragic events that year, can prove to be a positive legacy to emerge from the unimaginable.
